Red, itchy, watery eyes….yep, it’s that time of year again….ALLERGY SEASON! Time for topical allergy medications!

No matter where you live, chances are you and/or many of your patients have experienced the onslaught of symptoms that come with ocular allergies, and whether chronic or acute, they can be downright miserable (I would know…I live in the South!). Fortunately, there are many topical options for treatment of this condition, and having numerous drop choices means one thing…ANOTHER DRUG GUIDE is here!

NGO has provided reference guides for artificial tears, glaucoma, and steroids/NSAIDs. Now it’s time to give you a quick table that will hopefully make your clinical decision making easier when managing your allergy patients. Feel free to download the guide and make it your own or simply enjoy it within our site.

Keep in mind that a combination mast cell stabilizer and antihistamine drop typically proves more effective for most patients. The antihistamine helps stop acute symptoms in their tracks, while the mast cell stabilizer keeps them from recurring.
