The History of NewGradOptometry

Matt Geller OD - President

Launched in April 2013, NewGradOptometry.com was founded by Dr. Matthew Geller, an optometrist at in San Diego, California. Matt is also the founder of OptometryStudents.com, the largest website for optometry students ever created. Matt is the co-founder and CEO of CovalentCareers.com, an career development and job placement company for healthcare professionals.

Antonio Chirumbolo OD - Associate Director of Marketing

A leader in digital eyecare publishing, Antonio Chirumbolo OD helped to co-found both OptometryStudents.com and NewGradOptometry.com. Antonio operates the day-to-day affairs of the publication and is credited for the sites robust content achieves.

Emilie is a third year student at Salus University. She has a genuine interest in social media and founder of EyeSeitz, one of instagrams most popular optometry blogs!

Jared Levy - Cinematographer

Jared Levy is the co-founder of Navigate film, an NYC based cinematography and production studio that specializes in documentary films.

Courtney Dryer, OD - Editor

Courtney Dryer is a 2011 graduate of SCO. She opened 4 Eyes Optometry in her hometown of Charlotte, NC in February of 2013. In addition to consulting with new graduate optometrists on start-up practices, she contributes regularly to New Grad Optometry and has guest blogged for Invision Magazine. The unique design of her boutique practice was featured in Women in Optometry. In 2015, Vision Monday named her a Rising Star, and one of the most influential women in optical.

Kellen Robertson, OD - Editor

Dr. Kellen Robertson graduated from Pacific University in May of 2016. He works primarily at Eyes for Life in Spokane, WA where he is starting and branding a dry eye clinic from scratch. His interests include ocular surface disease and other anterior segment conditions as well as scleral lenses. Private practice and business management are two things he is passionate about.

Patricia Fulmer, OD, FAAO - Editor

Patricia is a 2012 graduate of The University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry and former AOSA National Liaison to the AAO. After graduation, she moved to Amarillo, TX, to complete her residency in Ocular Disease and Primary Care at the Thomas E. Creek VA Hospital. Patricia is the current Center Director for VisionAmerica of Huntsville, a co-management practice specializing in secondary and tertiary care, cataract surgery, strabismus, and oculoplastics in Huntsville, AL. She recently earned her Fellowship in the American Academy of Optometry at the 2015 meeting in New Orleans. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, attending concerts, art, and Alabama football.

Miki Lyn DAngelo - Editor

Miki Lyn D’Angelo, O.D. graduated with honors from the SUNY College of Optometry in New York, receiving the VSP Excellence in Primary Care and Excellence in Vision Therapy awards. She then continued her education by completing a residency in vision therapy and rehabilitation with Dr. Barry Tannen, OD. She has extensive experience in family eye care with a specialty and passion for pediatrics, vision training and neuro-rehabilitation with traumatic brain injury patients. She recently just opened a private practice cold with a partner on the Eastern End of Long Island. In her spare time she loves cooking and working on the farm with her fiancé.

Sean Carranco, MBA - Editor

Sean Carranco is the owner of Carranco Lunettes which is a consulting firm that helps independent practices in the marketplace. A versatile professional with over 15 plus years of executive operational, financial, marketing and retail experience, creating company guidelines and protocols to preside over your practice environment. He has a B.S. from The University of Texas and an Executive M.B.A from The University of Texas at El Paso.

Michael Hay, OD - Editor

Michael graduated from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN. Since graduating, he has worked in all modes of practice including a military setting, corporate and private practice. Currently, Michael works at Crystal Clear Eye Associates of Florida, PA., a large commercial group practice in Jacksonville, Florida. He enjoy writing and mentoring young doctors. Additionally, he is a member of the American Optometric Association and NE Florida Optometric Society. In his free time, he enjoy spending time with his 3 sons.

NewGradOptometry.com is free for everyone. We do offer the option for visitors to register, which will allow visitors to receive restricted content, exclusive interviews, deals, discounts, and to keep updated with every article.

In a given month, we release roughly 20 articles and over a dozen videos, all written by our paid team and guest writers.
